Tasks of Living With Others
One of the cool things about college is being completely submerged in a town of people your own age. You will probably never experience this ever again in your life. I found that adjusting to this new atmosphere was simple and fun!
My roommate, Caeli Beckert, is from Mendam New Jersey. That is only about twenty minutes from my home town. We had never met before, but as soon as we did, we quickly became very comfortable with each other. We get along very well together and have not had any quarrels or disagreements. She is an English education major, and is very busy, as I am. We definitely understand each other. I think we work well together because we both respect and are considerate towards each other.
I think the food at college is pretty good. At Penn State, there is just so much to choose from. I like to try out different places during the week. I think my favorite place to eat on campus is Rigatoni's, in Pollock Commons. I go there every Wednesday with a group of friends. However, being a music education major, finding time to eat is sometimes difficult. Nevertheless, I can usually find something to quickly stuff my face with, if necessary.
Sometimes noise in the dorms is a little distracting. Since I have such a busy schedule, I am often doing work while others can relax and fool around, but I can usually ignore it and get my work done. The girls on my floor are all really nice, and sometimes we have floor activities, like watching a movie together, or painting the hallways. Everyone is really friendly.
One thing I definitely dreaded, before coming to college, was doing laundry. However, I have found that it is really not difficult at all. Even finding time to do it is simple. I can usually do a load during the weeknights, while I'm studying or doing my homework. Overall, I really enjoy being independent and living in a dorm with others.
